Touch and Remember : The Element Series

"As an admirer of Kimberly's artistry, I was delighted she agreed to create the beads for The Elements Series. She has captured the essence of Earth, Fire, Wind, Water, and Spirit in beads that glow with vitality and energy. Each bead for every element is individually made and offered in a necklace, earrings, and keychain as well as sets. Each piece is embellished with sterling silver which is free of Nickel, and has Twelve Swarovski  crystal beads that coordinate with the colors in the bead. The professional wire is multi-strand stainless stell and the crimps are double filled to insure many years of availability. The producer, Ding's Jewelry Design, understands the intention of the series and maintains excellence in execution."
The Process
Flame working is a process of making glass beads. Pencil-like glass rods are heated in the flame of a tourch. When the glass begins to melt, it is wound into a prepared mandrel (steel rod) while the mandrel is rotated with the hand. When the bead is the size and shape desired, other colors and decorations can be added. The bead is then put into a kiln for annealing, a slow process of keeping the bead at 960 degrees and then allowing it to cool over several hours during which time the molecules within the glass align to prevent cracking.
